How to get to Sendai from Narita Airport
1. At Narita Airport
(You will arrive at Airport Terminal 1 or 2 depending on an airline.)
How to get to Tokyo Station from Narita Airport?
JR NEX counter
Go to the JR NEX counter in the terminal and purchase a ticket to Tokyo Station.,
"Narita Express to Tokyo". Confirm where the train station is.
JR Narita Express (NEX) trains take you to the Tokyo station
in about 60 min. It costs about 3,000 yen.

Here are just examples,
- NEX 34: 15:44 (Airport Terminal 1) -> 16:47 (Tokyo)
- NEX 36: 16:21 (Airport Terminal 1) -> 17:22 (Tokyo)
Find the gate for the NEX train, which is in the underground.
If you arrive at the correct gate, then insert your ticket
(for NEX to Tokyo only)
in the automatic gate.
(Don't forget to take the ticket back from this machine!).
When you get to the platform, go to under the number plate of the car
indicated on your ticket.
2. At Tokyo Station
How to find the gate for the bullet train (Shinkansen)?
Find the sign showing the route to "Shinkansen".
Green Shinkansen mark stands for "Tohoku Shinkansen" bound for Sendai.
(Blue one is for the different direction, "Tokaido Shinkansen" bound for Kyoto.)
So, follow the green Shinkansen mark.
Usually, after getting off the NEX train, it takes roughly five minutes
to reach the Shinkansen gate.
If you arrive at the correct Shinkansen gate, then insert your ticket
in the automatic gate.
(Don't forget to take the ticket back from this machine!).
When you get to the platform, go to under the number plate of the car
indicated on your ticket.

- Hayabusa 39: 17:20 (Tokyo) -> 18:52 (Sendai)
- Hayabusa 107: 17:56 (Tokyo) -> 19:29 (Sendai)

In HAYABUSA, HAYATE, KOMACHI and Super-KOMACHI (all of which are more rapid than YAMABIKO), all seats are reserved.
3. From Sendai to Tokyo and Narita (Airport Terminal 1 or 2)
- At Tokyo Station, after getting off the Shinkansen and descending the stairs from the platform,
you will find the two different gates, one is for changing to NEX and other trains in Tokyo, and the other
is for changing to "blue-colored" Shinkansens. Go to the first gate by folllowing the sign "Narita Airport" (airplane mark).
Then, get out from the gate by inserting a coupon Shinkansen ticket in the automatic gate.
(Don't forget to take the ticket back from this machine!).
- Then, follow the airplane mark to find the platform for Narita Express (NEX).
On the way to this platform, you will find the following digital display for the timetable of NEX.
The platforms are in B4F (underground). There are no extra gates for NEX.
The destination is "Airport Terminal 1 or 2", depending on an airline. It takes about 60 min.
